Who Is Marjorie?

The most recent excuse to rewatch old Office episodes is to document the baffling appearances by our resident Office ghost, Marjorie.

Who is Marjorie? We're glad you asked. She's the phantom worker who seems to appear sporadically in the background of multiple episodes across multiple seasons of our favorite show. Does she work with corporate? Is she HR? Did she sleep with Todd Packer? Is she Michael's mother, watching over his antics? Is she the third Osbourne sibling? Is she Phyllis' one night stand? Is she a mole for the camera crew? Is she a German woman also known as Urkel Grue?

She's been seen most often sitting in the back of the office, near Toby. Perhaps she likes to play Dunderball with him. Gossip with Kelly. Eavesdrop on breakroom conversations. Someday we may have an answer to her inexplicable presence.

In addition to our silver haired spinster, we noticed a few other unknown Office workers with somewhat less flimsy explanations for their presences. There are a few in Season One, including one redhead that may or may not be Marjorie's twin, Gingerie. There's also a potential transfer from Stamford in The Merger, whom we have deemed Manjorie.

We encourage you to email/comment us with any Marjorie or other anonymous worker appearances that we may have missed.

I've heard Greg Daniels say that he likes the mystery of these random characters who've never spoken or interacted with anyone. He feels as if they're people who didn't sign the contract for the show. Forget where I've heard that, but it might have been at the convention.

I know! I've heard the same thing!
I'm pretty sure they talked about it on The Office Alliance Podcast.
But it sounds pretty reasonable.
